Terms of Service
What you can expect from us, and what we need from you.
Last updated 29 August 2026
These terms apply when you book a pooja through this website with Pankaj Pandir's pooja service. Booking a pooja means you accept them.
They are written in plain language on purpose. A ceremony in someone’s home is a personal thing, and most of what follows is simply the practical detail of how that gets arranged well.
1.What we provide
We arrange for a qualified pandit to come to your home, or to a venue you nominate, and perform the ceremony you have chosen according to Vedic vidhi. The listing for each pooja on this site sets out what it involves, roughly how long the ritual itself takes, and what the dakshina is.
We arrange and perform ceremonies. We are not a temple, we do not sell religious articles as a shop, and we do not offer astrological consultation as a separate paid service.
2.Booking, and when it is confirmed
Choosing a slot on this website creates a booking request and holds that time for you. It is not confirmed until we confirm it — you will receive a message on WhatsApp with your booking reference.
We hold the slot from the moment you submit, so in practice a confirmed booking follows quickly. We may need to come back to you where a date is heavily booked, where the address is outside the areas we serve, or where the ceremony needs a longer sitting than the slot allows.
Keep your booking reference. It is how we find your booking instantly, and it is what you will need if you call us.
3.Which pandit comes
You may choose a specific pandit, or choose “any available pandit” and let us assign one. Either way you will be told who is coming, along with his phone number, before the day.
Occasionally we have to substitute a different pandit — illness and family emergencies happen, and a ceremony that has been planned around a date should not fall through because of one. If that happens we will tell you as soon as we know, and the substitute will be equally qualified for that ceremony. If you would rather not proceed with a different pandit, tell us and we will cancel and refund anything you have paid in full.
4.Prices, dakshina and samagri
The price shown against each pooja is the dakshina for the pandit performing it, and it is the price you pay unless you agree otherwise with us in writing. It is the same price for everyone; it is not adjusted based on the address you enter.
Samagri — the items used in the ritual — is handled in one of two ways, and the booking form makes clear which one applies before you confirm:
- You arrange the samagri. We send you a checklist after booking. Everything on it is ordinarily available at a local puja store, and there is no extra charge from us.
- We arrange the samagri, where that option is offered for the ceremony. The additional amount is shown in the booking form before you confirm, and it is added to the total you see.
5.Travel
Travel within the service areas listed in the booking form is included. If your address is outside them, tell us before booking — we may still be able to help, but it needs arranging rather than assuming.
The slot we reserve is longer than the ritual itself, because it includes travel time to and from your address. This is why the calendar sometimes shows fewer slots than you would expect on a busy day: it is protecting the ceremony before yours and the one after from running late.
6.Paying
No payment is taken when you book. This is deliberate — a card that fails at the wrong moment should never cost somebody their slot.
You can pay online by card or UPI through Razorpay’s secure payment window, or in cash to the pandit on the day, whichever suits you. Where you pay in cash, the amount is recorded against your booking so there is a record on both sides.
If you are paying online, please do so before the date so nothing needs settling during the ceremony.
7.What we need from you on the day
The ceremony goes well when the space is ready. Please arrange:
- A clean space where people can sit on the floor, with room for the ritual articles laid out in front.
- For any ceremony involving a havan, somewhere with genuine ventilation. There will be an open fire and real smoke, and a sealed room is neither pleasant nor safe.
- The samagri, if you chose to arrange it yourself, ready before the pandit arrives rather than being fetched during the ceremony.
- Clear directions and a contact number that will be answered. Most delays are a pandit standing outside a building nobody has told him how to enter.
- Somewhere to park, or a note in the booking about where parking is possible.
8.Timing, and muhurat
Please be ready at the time booked. A pandit usually has another family expecting him afterwards, so a late start can shorten your ceremony rather than delay his day.
Where a ceremony has a muhurat — an auspicious window — the timing matters more than usual and there may be no flexibility at all on the day. If your ceremony has one, tell us in the notes when you book so the slot is chosen around it.
If the pandit is delayed, we will call you. If a delay is ours and it is long enough to matter, we will offer you a full refund or another date, whichever you prefer.
9.Changing or cancelling
Rescheduling and cancellation are covered in full on our Cancellation & Refund Policy page, which forms part of these terms.
10.Conduct, and when we may decline
Our pandits are guests in your home and will behave accordingly. We ask the same in return.
We may decline or stop a booking where the pandit is treated abusively, where he is asked to perform something contrary to the tradition he practises, where the space is unsafe, or where a booking turns out to be for something materially different from what was described. Where we stop a booking for one of these reasons we are not obliged to refund the dakshina for a ceremony already performed, though in practice we would rather talk it through than stand on this clause.
11.Photographs
You are welcome to photograph or record your own ceremony. Please ask the pandit before photographing him specifically, particularly at a public venue.
We will not use photographs of your ceremony or your home anywhere without asking you first.
12.The nature of what is being offered
We are careful about this because it matters, and because it is where a religious-services business could easily overpromise.
What we undertake is that a qualified pandit will attend at the agreed time and perform the ceremony properly, with the correct vidhi and with care. What we cannot and do not promise is any particular outcome in your life as a result. No guarantee of that kind is offered on this site, and if anyone tells you otherwise on our behalf, they are not speaking for us.
13.Where our responsibility ends
We are responsible for arranging and performing the ceremony properly. If we fail to, tell us and we will put it right — by performing it again, or by refunding you.
Ceremonies involve open flame, camphor, incense and hot vessels. The pandit will conduct the fire ritual safely, but the space itself is yours: please keep small children and anything flammable at a sensible distance, and do not leave a lamp burning unattended after we leave. We are not able to accept responsibility for damage arising from the condition of the venue itself, or from a lamp or fire left burning after the ceremony has ended.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Indian consumer law that cannot lawfully be limited.
14.Things outside anyone’s control
Occasionally a booking cannot go ahead for reasons neither of us can do anything about — serious weather, a transport shutdown, a bandh, a public restriction on gatherings, a bereavement. Where that happens we will reschedule at no charge, or refund you in full if you prefer. Neither of us owes the other anything beyond that.
15.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mumbai have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Before it ever gets that far, please just call us. Almost everything is a misunderstanding that a five-minute conversation fixes.
16.Changes to these terms
