Ganesh Sthapana
Pran pratishtha for the Ganpati idol on Ganesh Chaturthi — the installation that begins the festival at home.
About this Ritual
On Ganesh Chaturthi the idol is not simply placed on the altar; it is invited, installed and given life through pran pratishtha. That is what this booking is for, and it is why the timing is fixed by the tithi rather than by convenience. The ceremony covers the shodashopachara — sixteen offerings made in order, from the seat and the bathing through to the durva grass and the modaks. It closes with the first aarti, after which the family performs the aarti themselves twice daily for as long as the idol stays. Visarjan on the final day is a separate, much shorter booking. Ask for it at the time and the same pandit will hold the date.
