About this Ritual
A commercial opening follows the same shape as a griha pravesh but is shorter and built around the business rather than the household. Ganesha is worshipped for the removal of obstacles, Lakshmi for the trade itself, and the premises are settled with a short vastu correction. The ceremony ends with the first transaction — the muhurat sale — which is traditionally made at the auspicious time and recorded in the new books. Many owners keep the receipt. If the premises are still being fitted out, the ceremony can be performed before the fit-out completes; a great many are. It is the occupation that matters, not the paint.
