Mahamrityunjaya Jaap
Recitation of the Mahamrityunjaya mantra with a closing havan — booked for serious illness and for recovery.
About this Ritual
The Mahamrityunjaya mantra is the recourse in Hindu practice for grave illness, for surgery, and for recovery. A jaap is a counted recitation, and the count is agreed before it begins: eleven thousand, twenty-one thousand, or the full one hundred and twenty-five thousand, which runs over several days with more than one pandit. This booking covers a single session. If you want a larger count, say so in the notes and the practice will plan the sittings and tell you the honest total before anything is committed. The jaap closes with a havan in which a tenth of the count is offered into the fire. That proportion is the tradition and it is not shortened.
